My Christmas was filled with religious reflection, pine scent, holiday music from the 60’s and carbohydrate loading. New Year’s is going to be filled with more family, more food, and a bit of skiing.
I’m not a huge fan of being out and about on New Year’s Eve. I’m paranoid about the other drivers and dread the drive home. However, my Italian family likes to spend it together – about 70 family members! Yes, you read that correctly. At the strike of midnight we all go around and kiss each other. As a physician, I think about the transmission of viruses during that ritual.
For part of the holidays we planned on some family physical activity. We’ve been planning a ski trip since the fall, however, with all good planning comes an unexpected challenges. And, that would be a teenager…again. Recently, my son was playing backyard football with one of his cousins and broke his clavicle. Therefore, his skiing is out at least for two months. So what are the rest of us to do? Well, we’ve decided to forge ahead but I’m sure I’ll get some chirping (or whining) in my ear from the 16 year old.
So, I welcome the New Year with family and hope your holidays are safe. It’s been a privilege getting to know you this past year. I appreciate your “likes” on Facebook and relish your comments on the blog. My New Year’s resolution for you is for you to post your comments on the blog…please! Just head all the way down to the “Leave a Reply” section of each blog post, fill in the fields (your email address will not be published) and everyone can see your comment!
My very best wishes for a healthy and happy 2012!
