At Summa Health System, we are proud to be a national leader in labor and delivery safety, with the well-being of both the mother and infant central to everything we do. Yesterday, the Wall St. Journal published its 2011 Innovations in Health Care Report with an article on the strategies that Summa and other hospitals and health systems around the country have used to make rare birth injuries even rarer. Read about what we’re doing and its impact on patient care here.

Also, look for the link in the upper left corner to see a video of our physicians, nurses and staff in action during a high-risk delivery simulation. The monthly simulations are drills that help us practice for emergency deliveries. Special thanks to the Premier Perinatal Safety Initiative, of which Summa is a part, for continued leadership, analytics and advocacy in obstetrics issues.
